With your help, WE DID IT.
Governor Pritzker is poised to sign a bill that legalizes adult-use cannabis in Illinois — making ours the first state to do so through legislative channels and the 11th overall to legalize cannabis.

LEARN HOW ILLINOIS WILL IMPLEMENT THE NEW LAW

WE’VE DONE THE WORK.
TOO MANY HAVE DONE THEIR TIME. COMMUNITIES NEED ACTION NOW.

ILLINOIS HAS WAITED LONG ENOUGH FOR SMART, EQUITABLE, ADULT-USE CANNABIS LEGISLATION.

Each day Springfield stalls on regulating sensible, adult-use cannabis legislation, communities pay the price. The time has come to take a grown up approach to legalization by righting the wrongs of the past and allowing Illinois residents to reap the benefits that smart cannabis legalization will create.

Illinois has spent years on a thoughtful and cautious journey to legalize cannabis. For those who suffered from the overzealous war on drugs, it’s been an eternity. Smart, deliberate progress trumps ineffective prohibition. It is the way forward that is long overdue.

66% AGREE

Sixty-six percent of Illinois voters* along with community advocates and elected leaders from both sides of the aisle agree. That agreement didn’t happen overnight. It happened over the years with community, civic, and business leaders actively pursuing input from concerned citizens. Illinoisans and others from across the country have helped shaped the responsible way forward by speaking out at forums and town halls all over Illinois to gather new information and share ideas, and we’ve learned from the mistakes of other states.

We recognize that legalizing and regulating the recreational adult-use cannabis market not only makes it safer, but also unlocks new opportunities, especially for communities who have been underserved and over-policed.
